About

From his numerous victories (Mini-Transat 2009, Route du Rhum 2010 in Class40, Transat AG2R La Mondiale 2018 with Adrien Hardy, Transat Jacques Vabre 2021 with Morgan Lagravière), to his rarer failures (including being forced to retire from the Vendée Globe 2016), Thomas Ruyant has forged himself a method based on delivering results. He displays the pragmatism typical of his native Nord region, which leaves no room for bluster. With no role model or mentor, Thomas has pursued and built a career that reflects his personality with conviction. Ambitious, determined and innovative, he had a great Vendée Globe 2020 - 2021, finishing in sixth place and proving it is possible to combine performance and direction. His victory, with Morgan Lagravière, in the Transat Jacques Vabre 2021 is a crowning achievement which calls for new pole positions in the future, starting with the Route du Rhum - Destination Guadeloupe, which begins on 6 November!

This is a great classic on the French sailing scene... It's a race steeped in history. I've only taken part in this transat once and I won. Of course it's a good memory. I remember a lovely finish in the early morning, in squally weather with rainbows everywhere...
