On Sunday November 6, 2022, the solo skippers will set off from Saint-Malo for the queen of single-handed transatlantic races. As an Official Partner, Brittany Ferries, has spent considerable time, effort and resources preparing for its participation and is proud to join once again the family of companies which associate themselves with and support this event with their know-how.

Brittany Ferries was created just 50 years ago, in 1972 in Roscoff, and is now consolidating its presence in the region but also has a desire to extend its profile well beyond the borders of Brittany. This partnership is also a continuation of a historical link initiated in 1978 between Brittany Ferries and the Route du Rhum. In fact it was aboard the ship Armorique, that Eric Tabarly gave the start of the first edition of this legendary race.

2022 strong together for innovation and preservation of the seas and oceans

“ For this new edition of the Route du Rhum-Destination Guadeloupe which also marks the 50th anniversary of the Company, I am happy that Brittany Ferries reaffirms its link with this magnificent race, as Official Partner. Since its creation, at the instigation of Alexis Gourvennec, our founding president, the Company has always been loyal to him. We find in it all our values as sailors and Breton peasants. Those of requirement, courage, exemplarity. Those of effort and surpassing oneself. Those, finally, of competition and the spirit of entrepreneurship. This Transatlantic will leave from one of the most beautiful gateways to Brittany, Saint-Malo, and 2022 will undoubtedly be a great edition. It is also this year that Brittany Ferries is proud to welcome its first Liquefied Natural Gas vessel, the Salamanca, to its fleet. Because more than ever, as for all the sailors and their boats setting off for the Route du Rhum-Destination Guadeloupe, it is innovation, green maritime transport and the preservation of the seas and oceans that are at the heart of our projects of the future ̎.”

Jean-Marc ROUÉ, Chairman of the Brittany Ferries Supervisory Board
