POINTE-A-PITRE
The city of Pointe-à-Pitre, located on the island of Grande-Terre, remains the historical host port of the race and has a rich and diversified architectural heritage, which offers, in the first place, a wealth commensurate with its historical role and constitutes a strong component of its identity. Born in the middle of the 18th century on the marshy banks of the bay of the small marine cul-de-sac, it is around this body of water, an exceptional anchorage for ships, that it developed.
First welcomed at the Bas-du-Fort marina in Gosier, then at the Darse and on the Place de la Victoire in Pointe-à-Pitre from 2002, since 2018, the ACTe Memorial has become the setting for the arrivals of all the sailors. A true architectural masterpiece, it has become a strong symbol dedicated to the collective memory, as a tribute paid by the race to all the islands of the Caribbean arc. Loaded with history, it has seen and will still see for a long time, the solo sailors complete their transatlantic race, welcoming them as heroes, from the first to the last, and this, thanks to the enthusiasm of the Guadeloupean public.
In short, whether you are on one side or the other of the Atlantic Ocean, this gathering marks a popular festival well known and expected by all.
