For the Brittany Region, welcoming the Route du Rhum-Destination Guadeloupe is both a great honour and a great responsibility. For 40 years this legendary race has been winning over and welcoming a huge crowd of visitors who come to share exceptional moments when sporting feats and technological challenges come together. We all have images and memories of a particular start, a victory or skippers fighting in difficult conditions. These are all images that honour Brittany.

A long-time partner of the Route du Rhum-Destination Guadeloupe, the Region also owns the port of Saint-Malo and, as such, aims to offer the best facilities for competitors, technical teams and the public. In addition to maintenance and modernisation work on the port of Saint-Malo - like the modernisation project at the Terminal du Naye - the Region works closely with the organisers of the race so that everything is ready on opening day and start day. From the administrative formalities to the logistics of both the boats and the public, the harbour teams have been working for several months to ensure the coordination and organisation of this popular event is as solid as possible.

The Route du Rhum-Destination Guadeloupe is also a beautiful showcase of the strength of the Brittany nautical sector. Not only does this great event show Saint-Malo and Brittany in their best light, it also reveals the technological prowess developed by our nautical businesses. It is a dynamic and innovative sector that involves more than 1,200 companies, including many young and small businesses specialising in advanced fields and becoming references in their field. Providing nearly 7,500 jobs, the nautical sector is a jewel of the Breton economy that the Region strives to support. It thus wishes to promote the development of this part of our economy and increase the competitiveness of Brittany VSEs and SMEs in the nautical field, whatever their profession. During the Route du Rhum-Destination Guadeloupe, the performance of leading Breton companies, mostly recognised internationally, will be put at the service of the skippers.
