Set sail for Guadeloupe with the Route du Rhum - Destination Guadeloupe 2022
The most beautiful plateau in ocean sailing awaits those departing on the 12th edition of the Route du Rhum - Destination Guadeloupe. On Sunday 6 November 2022, the six competing classes will embark on a route unchanged since 1978, the year the queen of transatlantic races first set sail.
Before the starting cannon, the skippers will rub shoulders with the general public at the departure village, open from 25 October until the races departs. A spirit of togetherness they will also encounter when they arrive in Guadeloupe.
Changes and innovations for the 12th edition of La Route du Rhum – Destination Guadeloupe 2022 aim to showcase our beautiful destination.
Much more than an international sporting event, the Route du Rhum – Destination Guadeloupe provides a real boost to the economic development of our islands, by showcasing both our expertise and the beauty of our archipelago, to a French and international audience.
Over the years, the race has consolidated its reputation in France and worldwide, attracting a growing number of foreign skippers. If the record number of registrations for the 12th edition is anything to go by, La Route du Rhum – Destination Guadeloupe is more popular than ever.
Together with Guadeloupe Grand-Large, the structure formed to support up-and-coming open ocean racing and leisure skippers, our aim for 2022 is to bring together stakeholders from the worlds of sailing and business, in order to forge a maritime and green economy network to coincide with this unmissable shared sporting event.
As we all know, the pandemic has severely impacted our lifestyles, as well as our businesses. What better opportunity to revitalise the economy and enhance the visibility of local business than La Route du Rhum - Destination Guadeloupe 2022, an event that places the region in the spotlight.
We are therefore using this edition as an opportunity to put wind in the sails of economic and tourism recovery.
