Julien Reemers (Fédération du Commerce du Pays de Saint-Malo) withdraws from the Route du Rhum - Destination Guadeloupe
Julien Reemers (Fédération du Commerce du Pays de Saint-Malo) informed the Race Direction at the beginning of this week that he will not be taking part in the Route du Rhum - Destination Guadeloupe on 6th November.
The sailor, who finished his qualification last weekend, was the victim of an incident on land. Injured in the ankle, Julien Reemers had to undergo a medical opinion which gave its verdict: the sailor will not be able to line up on the start line on 6th November.
However, despite the disappointment, the sailor from Saint-Malo wants to bounce back and describes his morale as "_bad without being so bad because this Route du Rhum - Destination Guadeloupe was the beginning of a project and not the end for me, since I bought the former Gitana 11 __(which won the 2006 Route du Rhum with Lionel Lemonchois - now known as "Emotion 1") and which I'm going to work on refurbishing, even if I don't hide the fact that on 6 November, seeing everyone leave, will still be a difficult moment. _"
The skipper confided to us that he would like to help, if he can, one of the other "Malouin" skippers to complete his budget before the start. The solidarity of the people of the sea will perhaps lead to this misadventure for one of them being turned into an adventure with a special flavour for the other.
The Rhum Mono category now has 13 sailors entered.
