At 1246 hrs UTC on Monday 21st November, Kevin Escoffier on Holcim-PRB finished in fourth place in the twelfth Route du Rhum - Destination Guadeloupe. His race time was 11 days, 23 hours, 31 minutes and 14 seconds. He sailed the 3542 miles of the theoretical race course between Saint-Malo and Pointe-à-Pitre at a speed of 12.32 knots on the Great Circle Route. Out on the water, he actually sailed 4290 miles averaging 14.92 knots. He finished in Pointe-à-Pitre 5 hours 54 minutes and 49 seconds after the Imoca winner Thomas Ruyant (LinkedOut).

Escoffier said, It was tough. What a pace. I’m very pleased, even though I’m very competitive. Yesterday I was a bit disappointed. The boat was launched in May, so putting things into perspective… I know more about the boat now. The boat is well built. I hadn’t sailed solo for a while and last time was in the VG. So this allowed me to get back in the game. If this had been my main goal, I’d be disappointed. In Imoca, there are some great boats and people working hard. I felt tired and had hallucinations. The boat
is demanding and the competition so tough. I’m happy to see that with a new boat and not having raced solo for two years, I’m up there, so it is all very positive. I was never really worried, but I think after what happened before, and with the commitment of the team and PRB, I really wanted to finish. Being up with the best allows me to get back into the game and I now have confidence in the boat. Apivia has bigger foils, but that isn’t the most important thing. They have a strong team and brilliant sailor. Even with smaller foils, they’d perform well.
